Fort Liberty, North Carolina is home of the US Army Airborne and US Army Special Operations Command. Fort Liberty troops have conducted almost constant, back to back deployments during the course of the current conflict; at some 16 years, the longest such action in the history of the United States. While the Soldiers are away, usually in combat conditions, families remain at the post and attempt to live as normal lives as possible under the circumstances while the welfare of the families are on the minds of the deployed soldiers. Every actual and tangible benefit we are able to provide the Army Family represents one less worry the soldier must face while away from home.
These Fort Liberty units represent some of the finest combat formations in the US Military. Their troops are traditionally among the first to be called upon to respond to global contingencies. The 82 Airborne Division is capable of deploying a battalion task force within six hours of being alerted, and another battalion task force every three hours until the entire division is in route to face the emergency. There are 46,677 active duty soldiers stationed at Fort Liberty, along with 4,293 reservists, 11,834 civilian employees and 71,264 military dependents, many of whom reside in on-base family housing.
